Let’s Dethrone the Poet (cz)

An Interview with Joe Grim Feinberg, A2 Magazine, August 2025.

“...In our community, English acts as a kind of lingua franca which brings both challenges and opportunities. At our events, you’ll hear a range of “Englishes” and “Czenglishes” – different accents, registers, and fluencies – which relieves the pressure to conform to classical ideas of what poetry is supposed to sound like, such as “the best words in the best order.” Almost no one in our space is a native speaker, and that opens up something really important: we’re less focused on showcasing polished language or the singular intention of the poet, and more interested in how language behaves in relation to other elements – movement, sound, context, and presence. Rather than centering the poet and their mastery of language, we treat language as one part of a broader composition. It becomes less about presentation and more about process – something unstable, in motion, deforming and reforming in real time...” Read the full article here︎

For Poetry to be Everywhere (sk)

An interview with Ondřej Hrabal, Host Magazine, August 2024.

...The role of the reader as poet is essential to me, and I am therefore trying to explore whether the current literary environment really allows for this dialogue. If poetry is to be a living, truly vibrant conversation, it is essential to create contexts in which each participant feels they can participate in the situation — contexts that highlight subjectivity. Only then can poetry fulfill its potential. Not as a static, objective form, but as a dynamic exchange that encourages readers or listeners to create their own meanings and thus become poets themselves...” Read the full article here︎

Embrace Miscommunication (en/sk)

A discussion with Vít Bohal, 3/4 Magazine, November 2023.

“...The problem with poetry is that it is poetry – and not something else. And instead of excluding the language itself, we place our emphasis on the context: the time and place where the language exists. And that’s where our collective brings its curation to bear: at the contextual level because it’s the only thing that we can control. Our objective is to create an in-the-moment, micro-worldview shared by all participants in the language exchange by recycling language, symbols, jokes, miscommunications and other items that were created and experienced only in the moment of that curation. And when this happens, we call it a language happening because a language item was collectively experienced and then appropriated to a new context, bringing with it new micro-understandings that are native to that exchange...” Read the full article here︎

Instant Nostalgia (cz)

Fernanda Seavon writes about Thought & Beat, A2 Magazine, June 2022.

“...[OBJECT:PRAHA III] evokes the punk atmosphere of the 1990s, is bright with color, full of dialogue and jazz improvisation, and lacks a traditional narrative. As the tape unrolls, the video jumps from scene to scene, creating surprising connections. “I tried editing and rearranging the individual images in all sorts of ways,” says Say, “but in the end, for the sake of what I wanted to capture—the moments as they were—it turned out to be best to almost forgo editing...” Read the full article here︎

Tyko Say of OBJECT:PARADISE: Five Things You Need To Write Powerful And Evocative Poetry (en)

An interview with Heidi Sander, Authority Magazine, July 2021.

“...I think the most important thing to know is that we are all poets — everytime we produce language, we are creating a time and space specific language happening, something uniquely ours. We should all have more confidence with how we see the world — our minds don’t lie to us. All interpretations are valid. Whenever we use language, it has never been used in that specific context before — it has a new meaning and is happening for the first time. This is such an exciting thing to recognize and celebrate. Equally important is to know that there is no such thing as poetry — don’t try to create it because that would be someone else’s interpretation of the world. Record how you interpret the world and the poetry will come later...” Read the full article here︎
