TYKO SAY
[ sound : David’s Sister ]
David’s Sister is the no-wave, punk, sound project by duo Tyko Say and Sandra Pasławska that focuses more on performance and experience rather than a showcase of any musicial talent--and they’d like to keep it that way.
The project started on April 2nd 2022 when painter and poet Michael Rowland asked Tyko and Sandra to play something for the opening of his exhibition “Joe’s Theory of Irrelativity” at the GRID Center (which has since been turned into a hotel). Tyko and Sandra agreed and prepared a short set of pieces regarding womanhood and the urge to piss.
Sandra brought to the project a basic background of drumming experience and Tyko brought a bass guitair that a friend left at his house.
Since 2022, the project has been fueled by the same ethos: perform first, learn how to play last, but always with confidence. The duo has since been asked to perform at some of Prague’s biggest alternatives venues: UnderDogs’, Bike Jesus, Cross Club, Cafe v Lese, and have developed a reputation for playing some of the worst concerts in town, yet people still come.
What might this tell us about the current state of concerts and public performances?
David’s Sister couldn’t be made possible without AWWMAN Radio & Booking along with the Žižkov commuity--both of whom know that fun doesn’t need to be created when it can be experienced.
